Keep Reaching in Prayer

As we live through all the uncertainty in our world, we can be strengthened by our Lord’s prayers.  In John 17:9 Christ prayed to his Father saying “I pray for them.  I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours.  13 “I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them. 14 I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. 15 My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. 16

The Lord prayed for those whom God gave him.  His lambs.  Those who hear his voice.

You and me.

Psalm 91 tells us what awaits those who love and put their trust in God during difficult times.

“Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name.

He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.”

What a giving God we have.  If we set our love on Him, we can know that He will be present during times of trouble and carry us through. We can count on the forces within the world to distract us away from this promise – to weaken our faith by using fear to separate us from God. Fear causes us to doubt his love and turn our minds inward instead of upward towards heaven.

We can armor ourselves through prayer.  For nothing can be done alone and in our own strength.

God is sovereign.  No exceptions.

He is always in control.

Trust God with all your heart and mind.  Know that He is the beginning and the end. He is “I AM“.  No problem is too great. No worry too deep.

Give Him everything – your trust, fears, worries, love, all your hopes and dreams.

Ask for his grace, from one breathe to another.  To be with you always in everything you do and say.

Seek Him in every situation.  The joyful and sorrowful.

He  will answer in His way and time.
